WE ALL ARE JUDGES!

One of the worst traits of a bad society is the relentless judgment about each other. We all are judges but my question is who appointed us as judges? If we see a girl wearing revealing clothes, we will simply tag her to be characterless and shameless. Similarly, if we see a man with an Islamic beard, we will sentence him as being an extremist. Most of the times, the reality is very different from what we perceive.

Somehow, this habit of judging others is inbuilt. We love to judge others without understanding the consequences. The root of gossip is always a judgement, somebody makes an opinion about someone and discuss it amongst his or her peers. The same one-sided opinion becomes a reality of someone's life and character in society. The unfair bickering about anyone in any society takes place because of a one-sided picture being discussed widely. Basically, we do not want to see anything positive in anyone. The expectations keep increasing to a point where it is very complicated for anyone to keep up with them. It is very difficult to satisfy a person who always looks for negativity even if the positivity is right in front of his or her eyes. Whatever you do or say will become a controversy. This is not an individual level problem but a collective issue that needs to be addressed. Even though all the religions somehow denounce backbiting and gossiping but still it is very much persistent and causing a lot of agony to many people.

The major problems of society are that we do not give anyone the chance to explain themselves. We love to stick on with our own judgements and those judgements become a fact in our own minds, however, it is most likely to be a lie. The society has suffered a lot because of this major problem in many aspects. Major psychological problems are taking place because labelling others has become a very common thing. Recently two university going girls, Anum Tanoli and Rushan, have committed suicide, the social media has a lot to say about the issue but nobody is ready to offer any solution to the rise of dissatisfaction and commitment of suicide. The biggest question is what made these girls commit suicide? Was it the ever judgemental society that labelled them and never heard their side of the story? Or was it just a psychological issue that led to the commitment of suicide? Everyone has a picture to paint but nobody will try to understand anyone's position before passing a judgement. Social media has turned into a courtroom where everyone is busy contributing their judgement, however, there is a big difference in sharing opinions, thoughts, views and labelling. The Twitter and Facebook profiles of renowned people are always open for everyone to comment on and if you ever go through those comments, you'll understand my point. If a celebrity can be so brutally judged, what about a common person? The celebrities can somewhat get away with the nonsense judgements but a common person is made to suffocate with the radical conclusions eventually exterminating them either mentally or literally.

There is always a story and reasoning behind everything. If a woman is performing sex work or a man is sensitive, all we do is pass a judgement but nobody really tries to understand what made them do what they are doing on maybe it is their own choice. The day we start respecting others choices and struggles, we will become more stable and better. It is a very difficult task but we need to individually work on our attitudes and try to pass on some good values to the next generation.
